The Antoine Vivenel Museum reopens

The Antoine Vivenel Museum reopened to the public on Saturday May 13 at 8pm, on the occasion of the European Museum Night.
This was an opportunity to discover the renovation of the reception area(the entrance is now via Songeons Park) and the creation of a multimedia space on the history of Compiègne (Site d'immersion historique or SIH).

This space offers visitors a narrative on the history of Compiègne and its region, through an introductory film and virtual visits to major sites via interactive stations. A self-guided experience to be enjoyed in the museum before discovering the region, thanks to the "carnet d'exploration" (exploration booklet) included with the admission ticket.

Moving poster for the Musée de la Figurine

Against this backdrop, the city of Compiègne is planning to relocate and renovate the Musée de la Figurine, which has been closed since May 2024. Located in the heart of the rehabilitated École d'état-major district, the future museum will be housed in the historic building of the former officers' mess. Opening is scheduled for early 2026.

Designed to be participatory, this exhibition invites you to leave your ideas and suggestions for tomorrow's figurine museum!

Antoine Vivenel's collection of Greek vases in the spotlight
from June 15 to December 29, 2024

From everyday life to mythology, from banquets to the labors of Heracles, from war scenes to the games that are a must-see in this Olympic year, the works presented here take us into the lively and fascinating world of ancient Greece, revealed through their prodigious imagery and always striking beauty.
Stories of women, men, gods, heroes and monsters are revealed through fascinating iconography and the talent of the painters who depicted them.
The exhibition invites you to (re)discover the jewel in the crown of the Musée Antoine Vivenel's collections.
