Monday 9 November at 10am at the Château de Compiègne:
“Imperial Elegance. Memories from Empress Eugénie’s Wardrobe”
to mark the centenary of Empress Eugénie’s death, with Laure Chabanne, curator and exhibition organiser.
On 11 July 1920, Eugénie de Montijo, a daring, romantic and modern woman who left her mark on her era, passed away in Madrid.
A century later, the Château de Compiègne, where the last Empress of France spent part of her life, pays tribute to her with the most extensive public collection of objects that belonged to her.
Her clothes and accessories are being displayed together for the first time in the ballroom. From her youth to her exile in England, these objects, steeped in emotion and history, trace an extraordinary life.
The visit continued with a tour of the museum dedicated to her mementoes and those of the imperial family, to mark its reopening.
Event cancelled due to the pandemic
Thursday 1 October at 10am at the Antoine Vivenel Museum:
tours of the new Palaeontology and Prehistory gallery and the exhibition ‘Rahan and Prehistory’.
Presented by Delphine Jeannot, Director of the Compiègne Museums.
These free tours are organised especially for Friends of the Museum during times when the museums are closed to the public. We will therefore be alone in the galleries, but wearing a mask is, of course, compulsory.

A day in Amiens:
a special tour of the Hôtel Bouctot-Vagniez and... Jules Verne in Amiens!

Listed as a Historic Monument, this mansion has retained its original condition and we have the unique opportunity to visit it before its forthcoming conversion into a luxury hotel.
Guided tour ‘In the footsteps of Jules Verne’. A coach tour past the monuments, highlighting the links the writer forged with Amiens.

Lunch at the restaurant “Le Quai” in the Saint-Leu district.
Afternoon:
Jules Verne’s House: a guided tour of the writer’s home explores his life, his work and his public activities.
Continuation of the “In the Footsteps of Jules Verne” tour, including a tour of the Jules Verne Circus (inside and out).
