The Marquis de Thuisy, a benefactor of Compiègne.
The opening of the Asian art gallery at the Antoine Vivenel Museum in 2018 led to the rediscovery of an exceptional collector from Compiègne, the Marquis de Thuisy (1836–1913). Les Amis des musées provided financial support for research carried out by a Master’s student at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University for her dissertation entitled The Collection of the Marquis de Thuisy (1836–1913), from Acquisition to Bequest to the Antoine Vivenel Museum in Compiègne.

A “monster” by Robida makes its debut at the Antoine Vivenel Museum.
Thanks to the support of the Friends of the Museums, the Antoine Vivenel Museum is expanding its collection dedicated to the artist Albert Robida (1848–1926) with a unique copy of the sketch known as the “monster” from the book *Les Assiégés de Compiègne, 1430*, written and illustrated by the author.

Asia on display at the museum. A selection of Asian artefacts, exceptionally brought out of the storerooms where they had been kept since the mid-19th century, is now on display in the museum’s permanent exhibition.

A Museum of Studies for All. With the support of the Friends of the Museums association, the City of Compiègne has been able to acquire seventy-three drawings by a former pupil of the free drawing school sponsored by Antoine Vivenel.

Mind-boggling! Three medieval figures have lost their heads... heads found by chance in 1995 on the grounds of the former Royallieu Abbey in Compiègne.
The Ace of Aces’ final flight. The Museum of Historical Figurines has acquired a new diorama featuring the First World War hero, Georges Guynemer.
Demonic mask. The Antoine Vivenel Museum plans to showcase its collection of Japanese Noh theatre masks to mark the opening of a new Asian collections gallery in late 2017.

A facelift for our Saint Francis of Assisi. Thanks to the patronage of the Friends of the Museums of the City of Compiègne, this 17th-century Italian painting has undergone a complete restoration and been fitted with a new frame.
Antoine Vivenel, the Italian. In a collector’s private collection: Italian prints and drawings from the Antoine Vivenel Museum, 16th–18th centuries.
Moon landing at the Museum of Historical Figurines. A set of three models and dioramas depicting key episodes in 20th-century history has been added to the collections of the Museum of Historical Figurines.
